Unique Products

ABOUT THE COMPANY:

UP / Unique Products create fun and funky lighting
and housewares from "re-fused " mardi gras beads and
other object d'art from the streets of New Orleans. Thrift
store finds are "trash-formed" a cast-off coffee can or
vintage purse into a clock or kitchen ware and baby
bottles are fashioned in to chandeliers.

Our most popular items include the "Mardi Lights" and
NOLA-themed items such as the "watermeter" or
"Cemetery " clocks. Post-Katrina items include the MRE
purse and blue tarp messenger bag which have been
featured on CNN and The New York Times, and are
part of a Smithsonian exhibit.

So C'mon UP and check out our Unique Products.

ABOUT THE OWNERS:

Mark Kirk, a culinary graduate, and Heather Macfarlane, a Fine Arts graduate, met while fighting over a plastic chicken at a Mardi Gras parade (Mark won). Not long after this clashing color match up, they formed UP /Unique Products
where they created funky lighting and housewares from New Orleans cast-offs.

They opened their showroom /gallery UPstairs @ 2038 Magazine Street in 1999 to retail and showcase their eccentric artwork and their ever expanding
portfolio which includes event planning /decor, costume consultation and alternative culinary creations. Clients include: MTV, The Ogden Museum of Southern Art, The Museum of Natural History, National Galleries of Scotland, Golden Nugget Casino, HGTV, and many other museums, galleries and private and commercial clients throughout the US, Canada and Europe.

While not dumpster diving they love to hang out with their dog "Dixie" and play croquet enjoying the "never a dull moment" city of New Orleans.
